Eastern Christian School welcomes Christiana Eisenlord as fifth grade writing and science teacher. She holds a bachelor’s in 英语 and a master’s in secondary education, both from Wheaton College.

Please tell us about yourself.

I grew up in Orange County, 纽约, but I consider myself an honorary Jersey girl since I attended private schools in North Jersey almost all the way through! I love reading and working with kids. This passion led me to study 英语 and education at Wheaton College. I promptly fell in love with teaching. There’s nothing quite so special as watching a kid transition from frustrated beginner to confident mastery. Alongside academic growth, I love the discipleship intrinsic to Christian education. I have been so largely shaped by Christian educators, and it is an enormous blessing to be able to join this endeavor. Outside of education, I love spending time with my husband in nature. We frequently go on hikes together and are constantly seeking out new places to explore. I also enjoy baking, running, and drinking coffee with friends. I am a proud, former military spouse and am currently attending Grace Community Church.

Tell the story of how you got to EC?

After I completed my degrees, I taught 英语 at Chapel Field Christian, a small school in upstate 纽约. I loved my time there; it grew my appreciation for Christian discipleship in the classroom context. 在那之后, my husband and I had our first move to Virginia, where I taught seventh grade ELA at a public school nearby. From there I taught fourth grade at Hawthorne Christian (my alma mater!) in a brief stint in the northeast. I then worked as a long term sub for a science teacher at Immanuel Christian when I had to return to Virginia unexpectedly. I believe God prepared me for this new role in fifth grade science and writing with my roles in the past year.

What sets EC apart?

I have not yet met many EC students personally, but I admire the philosophy of EC to foster spiritual richness as well as academic strength. I think it’s crucial to have a solid understanding of Christianity and what it means to think and act in imitation of Christ, especially in the complicated and fallen world in which we live. I also love how Christian principles underscore every aspect of EC, from academics to service to the portrait of a graduate.

See what a Christ-centered education looks like for your child.
